Since we were founded, Silk has been committed to making the world a healthier place. That means taking good care of our consumers - and our planet. We were one of the first brands to champion renewable energy, and today, we continue to lead with our green power commitment.
Silk uses clean, renewable wind energy to offset 100% of the electricity used to make our products. We also offset the energy used at our corporate headquarters, and sponsor green power for a number of natural industry events. To date, we've purchased more than 184,000 megawatt hours of wind energy. That prevents the polluting impact of more than 250 million pounds of carbon dioxide - the environmental equivalent of planting almost 35,000 acres of trees. That's a whole lot of green!
This year for the fourth time, Silk's parent company WhiteWave Foods was named a Green Power Partner of the year by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. WhiteWave Foods was one of only five companies chosen for this prestigious award, which recognizes companies for their thought leadership and overall impact on the green energy market.
